We partnered with a fabulous maker to bring you these soap dishes. He makes his soap dishes from wood scraps retrieved from one of the largest lumber mills in the Portland area. The mill supplies short mill end pieces that are worthless to them, but are the perfect size for soap dishes. It's a win-win...much better than sending the small pieces overseas where they will be ground up and used for particle board that is sold back to the US.

Cambia is a thermal treated red oak hardwood. Red oak is put into a large pressurized chamber free of oxygen, and then brought up to high temperatures without burning. The caramelization of the natural sugars in the wood turn this oak into a beautiful dark chocolate brown color. This treatment causes the wood to become highly water resistant, capable of being used for outdoor decks and fences...or absolutely perfect for a soap dish.

This soap dish measure 2.75 inches by 4 inches by 3/4 inch thick. The minimal surface area allows for maximum airflow so that the soap dries quickly, significantly extending the life of the soap. Poplar wood is a sustainable hardwood that varies in color from white to milky cream to minty green.

Each dish has been meticulously hand sanded on all edges, creating a soft elegant look and feel.

A soap dish significantly extends the life of a bar of soap - but did you know that you can also extend the life of your soap dish? Use your soap dishes in pairs to extend the life of the dish - use one dish for 2-3 weeks, and then switch it out with the second dish while allowing the first dish to completely dry out while you are using the second dish for 2-3 weeks. Doing this will prevent mold and mildew from developing and growing on your dish and greatly extend the life of the dish.
